Edvard Grieg
Transcribed for Concert Organ Solo by Thomas Heywood
Rigaudon from the Holberg Suite, Op. 40
One of Edvard Grieg's most famous works transcribed by 'the acknowledged master', Thomas Heywood, for Grieg's centenary in 2007.
The Rigaudon from Grieg's 'Holberg' Suite was composed in 1884 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Dano-Norwegian playwright Ludvig Holberg.
Originally composed for piano and later arranged for string orchestra by the composer himself, Thomas Heywood's transcription for Concert Organ Solo includes all of the colour from Grieg's orchestral transcription.
